the year 8's that I will miss them! We had a great night at the leavers dinner last night. The parents did an amazing job with organising and the behaviour was exemplary (sp?)What can I say the girls are absolutely amazing, they are all going to grow in to beautiful young women. As for the boys, I know I hassle them a bit but when it comes to the crunch they to are gorgeous! check out some of the pics. hopefully in a slideshow.

Phew!

Wow, only 7 more get-ups and it will be the end of the school year. We have done so much this year and we have still got a little more to go. This evening we have our Christmas Concert, which is going to be fantastic.

On Monday the Year 8's went to Titahi Bay Surf Life Saving Clubhouse and had a great time. On Tuesday I went with the Year 7's to Paekakariki Surf Life Saving Club and had a fantastic time. We had a morning filled with finding out about water awareness and safety. Then after morning tea we got changed and had a couple of relays at the park. We then came back and had some relays in the water. It was brilliant. When these had been completed we then had freetime in the water, with restrictions of course. When all of the children were out the lifeguards went in to the rolling waves, so I just had to join them!

Try and add a new post tomorrow to let you know how the concert went.

Wednesday, BEDMAS!!!

Well that is not the way that I add a video to the blog, I will have to have another go. Anyway i have added a video bar.

BEDMAS is a way of figuring out more complex equations B = Brackets, E = Exponents, D = Division, M = Multiplication, A = Addition, S = Subtraction. if you have the following equation

(7 x 3) x (6 + 5) x 0 + 3² – 3 x 3=
you would solve the equations in the brackets first so the above equation would become
21 x 11 x 0 + 3² - 3 x 3
next you would solve the exponents so now the equation is
21 x 11 x 0 + 9 - 3 x 3
Division and multilplcation have the some weighting so you can solve the together
0 + 9 - 9
Lastly solve the addition and subtraction equations and you will have your answer.
= 0

Have fun with your homework.

Busy, busy busy

and this is how it is going to be until the end of the year. There is so much happening in the syndicate and so what we need to do is to remember to stopand breathe. Let's get all of our beach education forms in tomorrow so that our last trip of the year is a good one. Also to make it good we need help in the water.

My first year @ Plim has nearly come to an end. How time flies when you're having fun!

Friday

It was a gorgeous day in Plimmerton to end the working/school week. Spirits are always high on a Friday, especially if the weather is this good. We had our speech finals this morning. What a great effort the students put in to thier speeches. We had a range of speeches some of these were noses, being short, spratans cellphones and lots more. Well everyone has gone home, lets hope that this spectacular weather continues. Have a great weekend!

Trips this week

Tuesday 4 teams of girls went to the Rippa and Girl black rugby tournament which was held in Lower Hutt @ Fraser Park. The weather was totally and utterly terrible but that didn't stop us from giving it a go. One the the year 7/8 teams won the plate which was really great. The other teams that went raved about how the day went and didn't go. When we all got back to school it was great to see the majority of the Taupo girls sitting outside having a chat! I hope the girls had a great day because I know I did! Can't wait for next year.

The marae visit was on Friday and what a day for it. The weather was great the children were great and there was a lot of fun and learning had by all. It was really good to see a number of children outside of school in an environment that they felt at ease in. Despite being slighlty nervous about doing the karanga all went well on that front and I only managed to burn a few piklets while cokking them on the "boil up" stove! The students seemd to be liking them also.

Testing

Have you ever wondered why we test? Well it is not only so we (the teacher) can gague where you are at against the rest of Year 7/8's in New Zealand but so you can get use to testing situtations. There are still many tests to come in life whether they are physical, written, oral or emotional. Try and learn to deal with these now. We hope it will benefit you in the future.
